When Kelly L. first heard about Livongo, she was on the fence about joining. “At first I hesitated, but then I figured I didn’t have anything to lose.” Within days, she’d received her new scale in the mail, and had set up the Livongo app on her phone to track her weight. Three weeks later, extra motivation arrived.
Kelly learned from her doctor that her blood pressure was high, and that was the final motivation she needed. She re-started a walking routine with her husband of 40 years and made changes to her diet. “I am watching what I eat, making better choices, and cutting back on sugar a lot.” She’s weighing in when she wakes up every day. “Love that [the app] keeps your history, so I can track my progress,” she wrote in her 5-star review of the Livongo app.
Today, she feels the difference. “Uphill walks are easier, and I recently added some hand weights when I am walking. I also walk on a treadmill and I have been able to increase my speed.” Best of all, as a result of losing more than 30 pounds on the StepIn with Livongo and Express Scripts Program, Kelly’s blood pressure is now in the normal range, and her doctor has taken her off one of the blood pressure meds she used to be on.
What’s next? “I would like to lose at least 30 more pounds, continuing to watch what goes in my mouth, and keeping my activity up.” She reiterated: “You really have nothing to lose, and you gain your health back.”
